The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), an initiative of Qatar Foundation (QF), is pleased to welcome Edzai Conilias Zvobwo, Chief Genius at TEDSF, for its next regional forum, which will be held in Paris from February 20-21, 2019.
WISE@Paris is a gathering of movers and shakers in the education space from around the world. The Paris edition will explore future scenarios of education under the theme ‘Education Futures: Fostering Learning Societies.’ Over the two days of the forum, WISE will engage a diverse collection of education experts, 800 French, European, and international education stakeholders, among them political decision-makers, entrepreneurs, business and NGO leaders, and students.
Stavros Yiannouka, CEO, WISE, said: “Building on the success of previous WISE@ events, we hope that this particular forum will inspire leaders and stakeholders to embrace policies and practices that promote quality education. WISE is honored to receive the high patronage of President Emmanuel Macron, and we thank him for his support.”
WISE@Paris will begin on 20 February with a broad range of activities taking place across Paris at partner sites such as the Centre for Research and Interdisciplinarity (CRI) and UNESCO. These activities will include workshops, panel discussions, and roundtables.
The main forum will take place on February 21 at the Palais de Tokyo. Participants will be able to explore, through a variety of formats, the journey of a learner, starting from early childhood development and ending with lifelong learning. The topics highlighted by WISE@Paris will be rethinking early education; empowering teachers and education leaders; decrypting the future of work and cultivating global citizenship.
Previous WISE@ events have been held in Accra, Beijing, Madrid, Tunis, and, most recently, New York during the UN Global Goals Week. These regional events are grounded in partnership with stakeholders to drive transformation in education with major change-makers and influencers, with the aim of generating tangible global educational impact. WISE@Paris will be the final regional forum before the next edition of WISE’s global Summit takes place in Doha from October 28-29, 2019.
The WISE Global Summit is a unique opportunity to engage in the important debates and discussions on the full range of pressing education challenges with a diverse, global community committed to building strong, prosperous, and secure societies through education.
Since 2009, the WISE Summit has brought together diverse education stakeholders in Doha to explore and share ideas, and to collaborate toward creative action in education. At WISE, teachers, decision makers, and influential experts from all fields of public and private sectors gather in a collegial environment to harness their experience in addressing evolving education challenges. The WISE Summit has become the premier international, multi-sectoral conference dedicated to building the future of education through empowerment and partnership.
Participants at WISE benefit from a wide range of sessions including keynote and special addresses, interactive panel discussions, dynamic hands-on workshops, as well as more intimate special interest sessions, and informal meet-ups. WISE Plus, a community organizing platform, is available ahead of the Summit to help delegates tailor their programs according to individual priorities, and facilitate connection and collaboration.
With the emphasis on interactivity, participants enjoy opportunities to meet with representatives of WISE Awards winning projects, the WISE Accelerator enterprises, members of the Learners’ Voice, and with WISE authors. The WISE Majlis, a central gathering and exhibition space, encourages informal interaction and includes sponsored booths, the popular Learners’ Voice Café, the WISE Research kiosk, and the Learning Labs where local students experience the best in teaching and hands-on doing in the classroom. The announcement of the WISE Prize for Education Laureate is a highlight of the Summit. The WISE Prize for Education, established in 2010, is a world-class recognition of an individual or a team for outstanding contribution to any field of education.
